Cheating the system [4/365]

Almost 24 hours later and I'm still dealing with a RAM upgrade... ugh!

After what I thought was a successful installation yesterday my system rebooted itself. After doing a complete format & reinstall I thought I would be in the clear... nah! Hours of error messages (aka - BSOD, "Blue Screens of Death") and troubleshooting, updating drivers, etc, I caved and finally went to bed at 1:30am.

This morning I checked the memory manufacturer's website and they stated that even though my motherboard claimed it could handle 400mhz memory, only up to 333mhz was supported. I guess the mobo manufacturer forgot to actually test 400mhz dimms.

I went back to Canada Computers this morning only to be advised of a 15% re-stocking charge on all returned / exchanged merchandise that has been opened, WTH?? I could see if I was returning it from a refund, but straight exchange? A tad rediculous if you ask me.

So this time I figured that I would take the proper precautions to open the new set of dimms I got today just incase a return has to be made yet again. It looks a little doggy eared but it sticks down flat and looks like it never was opened up.

Day 1: Weapon of Choice

So, I've finally decided to get around to joining in the Project 365 fun! This is the first image in my first year, and as such, features the trusty Logitech Trackman Wheel which is currently tethered to my office Mac Pro. I reckon it'll be seeing a fair bit of action over the coming 12 months, while hopefully reducing wear and tear on my right wrist! Oh and by the way, happy new year :)
